The Bible And Your Life

Isaiah 55:11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God sends out His word and it returns unto Him. And it does something along the way. It accomplishes His will. His will is for His word to draw men to Himself. When He draws men to Himself, He changes them and their lives. We cannot come into the presence of God and be unchanged.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Romans 6:4b: . . . even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Does the Bible make a difference in your life or is it just words that you read and hear? If it has not made a difference in your life you may not be a Christian. The proof that we are Christians is whether or not the Bible has impacted our lives. No change . . . no proof. Little change . . . little proof. Much change . . . much proof. The changes God and His word make in us should be apparent to us AND those around us. My favorite Spiritual leaders are the ones whose lives God and His word have changed the most.

Many who have received Jesus into their hearts are stingy about including Him in their lives. The less they include Him in their lives, the less proof they have that they are saved. The less proof they have that they are saved, the less assurance they have that they are saved. Want to have more assurance that you are saved? Permit the Lord and His word to change you and your life more.

Isaiah 32:17: And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Psalms 119:11: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Psalms 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

2 Timothy 3:16-17: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Should you love God because of Who He is? Of course you should! However, you should know God because of what He has done for you personally. Praising God for what He has done doesn*t cut down your reverence for Him; it should heighten it. You can know God is gracious because the Bible says so, but you ought know God is gracious because you experienced it yesterday. They both go hand-in-hand! There should be a connection between what God has said and what you see God doing in your life. How do you know that God is gracious? First, because God said it; secondly, because you have seen it yourself! Nothing you say about God will ever be as forceful as what God has done for you.
